Back in the fall, a multitude (at least a thousand) of high school singers auditioned for their District level KMEA High School Honor Choir. After the district event in December, scores from the same audition were tabulated, and the top singers from all seven districts in Kansas were selected to be in one of the two All-State Honor Choirs. Out of hundreds, roughly 50 soprano 2 singers were chosen from the entire state to fill the spots between both choirs. TMP-M's own Natalie Loftus, senior, was one who was selected for the Mixed Choir! She will go to Wichita at the end of February to spend a weekend rehearsing and then performing with the 2023 KMEA Mixed Honor Choir. This choir is an immense honor, and we are thrilled for Natalie and her hard work paying off! The concert is Saturday, February 25 at 11:30am at Century II in Wichita. Please come support Natalie in her major accomplishment!

Monarchs, We Need You!
We need 3 more families to open up their hearts and homes to male students from Argentina. Okay, it's not as dire as those cartoons, but Kansas is too cold to camp outside during January. If you can accommodate on more person for just the month, we'd be so grateful.
Here are some benefits for your own children when you host:
1) Increased social confidence by having a near-peer who is somewhat reliant on the host sibling to navigate the new family, school, and culture.
2) Exposure to the wider world and, in this case, Argentina. This builds a global confidence in the kids that helps them see the world of opportunities outside their experiences.
3) Many host brothers and sisters report feeling more confident about taking healthy risks, like speaking in a group, traveling, or trying something new.

Mrs. Nancy Flax's ceramics student, Karli Komarek recently created horse hair pottery. Karli designed her pottery and then applied horsehair to the heated pottery when removed from the kiln. The burning hair creates smoke patterns and carbon trails on the surface of the heated pottery that remain as decoration after it cools.
