TMP was represented by four Junior High students at the Ellis County Spelling Bee on Monday, February 7. While they did not place each of them did a great job; we are proud of them!
TMP hosted the Regional Scholar's Bowl Tournament last evening. The Monarchs finished with a 9-2 record and first place finish. That marks four consecutive first place finishes. The season will conclude with the State Scholar's Bowl tournament on Saturday, February 12 in Gypsum. Best of luck to the Monarchs next weekend!
The TMP Junior High Chess Team traveled to Hutchinson on Saturday, February 5 for a tournament. They came away with a 21 point first place win; ahead of Trinity Middle School who had 12 team points.
Individually, 8th Grader Eli Stein placed first on tiebreaks ahead of 8th Grader Blaise Staab, both with an undefeated 6 points, while 7th Grader Carson Pinkney placed 3rd with 5 wins and one loss. Brynnon Ayarza in 7th grade placed 6th with 4 wins and 2 losses. Great job JH Chess Team!

As Catholic Schools' Week comes to an end, students from St. Mary's in Ellis and Sacred Heart in Plainville came to Hays and joined up with students from both Holy Family and TMP for Mass. After Mass the students were put into groups with students from all schools for fun and games.

Three Monarchs Claim MCL Academic All-League Honors. TMP-Marian is proud to recognize three seniors who have displayed excellence in academics and extracurricular activities. Megan Hamel, Jessica Herrman, and Kassidi Yost earned MCL All-Academic Honors by participating in 12 extracurricular activities (athletic and non-athletic) in 7 semesters while maintaining a 3.85 GPA or higher. The girls were honored and recognized at the MCL Basketball Tournament on Jan. 22. Congratulations Megan, Jessica, and Kassidi!

Due to the forecasted winter weather, TMP-Marian is canceling classes for Wed. Feb. 2.
The TMP-M cheerleaders along with their mascot Buff, cheered on the prom attendees as they paraded down main street for their Night to Shine Prom Saturday afternoon.
TMP-Marian's high school scholar's bowl team competed yesterday in Norton. The team went 8-1 and took first place! In the last two tournaments, the Monarchs have gone 18-1 with two first-place finishes. They are competing well as the Feb. 3 KSHSAA 3A Regionals approach. God bless and Go Monarchs!

TMP-Marian is pleased to announce that Mrs. Megan Gottschalk has been hired to lead the Monarch volleyball team. She was the TMP-M junior high volleyball head coach for the past three seasons.
"I am looking forward to the new challenges that being a high school coach has to offer,” Mrs. Gottschalk said. “I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue being involved with a sport that I love."
Megan grew up in Wyoming the middle of three children. She started playing volleyball in the 3rd grade and played all the way through to the NCAA Division I level at the University of Wyoming. She is in her 6th year of teaching PE at Holy Family Elementary.
