The 7th grade science students have been learning about the human organ systems over the past few weeks. They had to create life size models of the different systems. As you can tell, they got to add a little Christmas flare to their projects as well!
The 6th grade Personal Finance class welcomed Mr. Andrew Taylor of Werth Wealth Management to speak to us today. He told us about investing in bonds and stocks and we did some math as we learned about the rule of 72. We thank Mr. Taylor for his time!
Please plan to hit Scooters on Vine in Hays tomorrow (Sat. Dec. 16)!
Advanced Biology class dissects fetal pigs and other small mammals to learn about anatomy and internal organ systems.

Thank you to all the junior high and high school teachers who continue to bring quality and engaging instruction to our students right up to the last days of the semester!
Today Mr. Brull came in and taught the 6th grade class a science lesson on how to crush a can with air pressure. We want to send a big thank you to Mr. Brull!!
TMP-M Still Needs Eight Host Families. We need your help!
There are 7 girls and four boys heading to Hays on Jan.6. We still need eight families to step up and say yes to a future friend south of the equator!
For 5 weeks from Jan. 6 to Feb. 11, 2024, ten (10) international students and one chaperone from Argentina will be visiting TMP-Marian High!
To help offset food and utility expenses, host families are given a $500 stipend. Because the students help pay for their time in our school, TMP-M also receives $500. If you host, it's just like giving a $500 donation!

Unfortunately, we brought home the 2nd Place trophy on tiebreaks. Individually, 7th Grader Caden Pinkney placed 2nd out of 61 players with 5 wins and one loss, 8th Grader E.J. Gibson placed 4th with 5 wins and one loss, and Evan Staab placed 6th with 5 wins and one loss. 8th Graders Zack and Dylan Billinger placed 9th and 13th respectively with 4 wins and 2 losses.

The Junior High Chess Team brought home another 1st Place trophy this past Saturday, defeating six teams in a field of sixty-eight players at Allison Traditional Magnet Middle School in Wichita.
TMP-Marian jumped out to an early lead, and never gave it up, extending their lead all the way until the final round. Ultimately, TMP-Marian's top four scores, from which the team score is determined, totaled 20.5 points, followed distantly by Wichita St. Francis of Assisi with 16.5, and host Allison with 16. TMP took ten players to the tournament; it is interesting to note that TMP-Marian's second four scores would have tied for third!
Individually, TMP-M dominated as well. 8th Graders Zack Billinger, Evan Staab, and Ethan Gibson took the first three individual places--Zack winning the tournament with a score of five wins and one draw, Evan placing 2nd with five wins and one loss, and Ethan placing 3rd, also with five wins and one loss. Rounding out the score of 20.5 was 7th Grader Caden Pinkney, who also had five wins and one loss.
Also placing well were 8th Grader Dylan Billinger at 12th, 6th Grader Garret Billinger at 16th, 6th Grader Jarett Leiker at 21st, and 6th Grader Joshua Marintzer a 22nd, each with four wins and two losses.
TMP-Marian will travel to Washburn Rural in Topeka next weekend.

Boys and Girls Retreats Connect Students with their Faith.
The TMP-Marian high school girls are attending their Loved and Lovely Retreat at St. Nicholas of Myra today. They are enjoying dynamic speakers, a praise and worship band, a homemade spaghetti lunch, Adoration, games, confessions, and Mass.
The high school boys are attending the Virtue and Manhood Retreat at Kennedy by hearing Catholic speaker Dave DiNuzzo, playing dodge ball, Adoration, pizza lunch, confessions, games, and Mass. All students will be dismissed at 3 p.m.
The parents of our high school students will be pleased to know that their children are sharing faith moments and fellowship with their peers and teachers. We have much to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving and God bless!
