Welcome to the 2017-2018 Academic Year

Principal Chad Meitner, along with the new and returning faculty and staff of TMP-Marian look forward to another school year. The mission of our school continues to challenge our students to spiritual growth, academic excellence, and leadership formation. Our Catholic schools remain a vibrant ministry of our local and area parishes. The faculty and staff of TMP-Marian are committed to guiding young people, in partnership with our families, to become active and productive members of their parishes, communities, and families both now and well into the future.

Campus Minister Bill Meagher continues to enlist our faculty, staff, and families to challenge our students and one another to grow in faith and character. This is done, not only through our theology department where students learn more about the history and teachings of the Catholic Church, but also throughout curricular and service opportunities in the school and in our community.

The continuation of the Chromebook Initiative funded by Lillian ’51 (Dreiling) Schumacher will, once again, allow every student access to this connectivity and productivity tool that is used to augment the high-quality instruction by our dedicated faculty. Additionally, students in journalism and the digital arts will be greeted by our new Apple video and graphic arts lab. Here students will gain valuable experience that will prepare them for a college major or career through exposure to professional industry standard hardware and applications.

The history of TMP-Marian as a college preparatory institution continues to evolve as well with this years’ adoption of individual plans of study. As students navigate through junior high, high school, and into career and college, it is imperative that they set educational goals and create a roadmap for success. This roadmap, or individual plan of study, includes development of a flexible career focus and an education plan that is clearly-defined, rigorous, and relevant to assure a successful and efficient transition to postsecondary education and the workforce. The counseling department at TMP-Marian will work closely with students and their families to identify students’ strengths and areas of interest to set them up for success well into the future.

TMP-Marian also boasts the only private school in the state of Kansas with a Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter under the leadership of Faculty Member Jay Harris. The leadership of our school is honored to support the agriculture industry through educating young people of all the traditional and cutting-edge practices that continue to make it such an important piece of our regional economy. This is important to not only provide a basis for students who wish to pursue careers in agriculture or its ancillary industries, but also to provide an appreciation for one of the cornerstone industries of our history and our future.

Our student athletes and academic competitors at TMP-Marian look forward to another successful year under the leadership of Activities Director Troy Schulte ’89 and his staff of dedicated coaches. Last years’ accomplishments of our students in interscholastic competition are certainly too numerous to list here, but we encourage all our faithful alumni, friends, families, and students to follow us on our website and social media to keep up throughout the year. The TMP-Marian website (https://tmp-m.org) is updated frequently with news, upcoming events, and more. You may also choose to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our YouTube channel. Links can be found on our website.

Lastly, we’d like to offer a special thanks to all whose prayers and gifts sustain and grow TMP-Marian. May God bless each of us as we journey through another academic year. God bless, and Go, Monarchs!
