Shannen Chin Takes First, Sets New School Record at Goodland Golf Invitational

On Tuesday September 5, the Lady Monarchs golf team took 5th place in the Goodland Invitational with a team score of 425.  Syracuse was 1st with 368, Colby 2nd 390 and Goodland 3rd at 399.  There were 8 teams and 53 golfers participating.
Individually, Shannen Chin took 1st place with a new school record score of 74.  The previous record of 78 was posted by Karee Dinkel twice in 2015.  After a 6 over 41 on the front nine, Chin blistered the back nine with birdies at #12, #14 and #16 while making pars at the rest for a score of 33.  Rylie Cook of Stanton County was 2nd at 77 and Kerrigan Rudolph was 3rd with 80.
Other Monarch scores were Jenna Romme 108 (personal best), Haleigh Spray 121 (personal best), Katy Walters 122, Avin Inlow 130, Michaela Dreher 133 (PB).  In the 9 hole JV tourney, Abby Heimerman took 3rd place with 63 (PB) and Aubrey Koenigsman had 70.  There were 21 JV golfers.
Next tourneys for the team is a JV tourney at Oakley on Monday Septemeber 11 and the varsity heads to Larned on Thursday September 14.
