Mother’s Day Mass
Mother’s Day Mass in Al Billinger Fieldhouse with the Crowning of Mary is a tradition at TMP-Marian. This year’s Mass was, once again, celebrated by Fr. Earl Befort ’61 and was very well attended by students, families, alumni and friends of the school. Music was provided by Kathy Amrein as well as Jim Balthazor and Monarch Music.
A May Crowning is a traditional devotion in which an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary is crowned, usually with a wreath of flowers. It may be done within the context of a Mass or in a paraliturgy outside the Mass. This act of devotion is done during the month of May to recognize Mary as Queen of Heaven, Queen of Earth and Queen of Peace.
The seniors at TMP-Marian were asked to nominate students who they best felt represented the traits of St. Mary and St. Joseph. Five boys were chosen to represent St. Joseph and five girls to represent St. Mary.
It is a special honor to be recognized by your class as someone who represents the persons of St. Mary and St. Joseph. These ten students were selected by the Senior Class to participate in the Mary Crowning at the Mother’s Day Mass.
