Marilyn ’55 (Klaus) Flax


Marilyn 1955 (Klaus) Flax 81, died July 21,2017 at her home in Lakin.  She was born on May 20, 1936 in Hays, the daughter of Martin and Felicitas (Felice Leiker) Klaus.

Marilyn was the eldest child of eight.  On June 13, 1956 she married Clarence Flax in Antonino. She retired at the age of 62 from her work as a CNA. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and dancing the polka.

She was a member of the Cathedral of our Lady of Guadalupe, Moose Lodge and the Sunflower Polka Club of Dodge City.

Marilyn is survived by two sons, David Flax of Kalvesta and Dennis Flax and wife Kristi of Rose Hill; two daughters, Clarice Rilinger and husband Kenny of Lakin, and Dolores “Dee Dee” Flax of Dodge City; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; four siblings, Harold, Kenneth, Ann and Charlene.  She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Allen Flax; and siblings Lester, Joseph and Charles.

Vigil Service will be held at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Monday, July 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM.  Funeral mass will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10 AM.  Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Monday July 24, 2017 from noon to 6:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe or High Plains Retirement Village- both in care of the funeral home.
