Ellis County Spelling Bee

Four Monarch eighth graders represented their school at the 63rd Annual Ellis County Spelling Bee on January 29.  They were the top four finishers in the school’s spelling bee held earlier in January.  Jensen Brull spelled “pronto,” “vulture,” and “reindeer” correctly before forgetting a “p” in “sapphire.”  Delaney Staab also went out in the fourth round after attempting to spell “seersucker,” a word she had never heard of before.  She had already spelled “library,” “hurricane,” and “resistance” correctly.  Kadrian Ayarza misspelled “cynical” in the fourth round after successfully spelling “nostril,” “llama,” and “metaphor.”  Karlyn Rohr spelled “unity” correctly in the first round but failed to spell “sultan” in the second round. Congratulations are in order for our students with the gift to spell.
