Clair A. Dome ’53
Clair 1953 A. Dome, 82, Hays, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society, Hays.
He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Pfeifer to Anton and Florine (Sander) Dome. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy.
He married Anneliese “Lisa” Malone on May 2, 1968, in La Crosse. She preceded him in death April 10, 2000. He worked at The Hays Daily News for 30 years as a press operator and retired in 1998. He worked a few years at Quality Cleaners and Fort Hays State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, yard work, golfing, computer games, playing cards and trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include his companion, Deborah “Deb” Huser-Allen, of the home; four stepsons, Mike Malone and wife, Susie, Topeka, Bob Malone, Independence, Mo., Steve Malone and wife, Erin, Lawrence, and Bill Malone and wife, Unhung, Norman, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Ashley Allen and Nick Schmelzle and Sharity Allen, all of Hays; four sisters, Betty Desaire and husband, Larry “Joe,” Olathe, Sharon Waters and husband, Vern, Lenexa, Lucy Straily, Manhattan, and Christine “Chris” Kinsman and husband, Mike; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; a nephew, a number of nieces and his dog, Bella Marie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Rosalie Altman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 E. 22nd, Hays, KS 67601, with military honors by the Hays Veterans of Foreign Wars; a private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Dome family in care of the mortuary.
