Cheerleaders Take Top Team at NCA Camp

The Thomas More Prep-Marian Cheerleaders traveled to Wichita, to attend the National Cheerleaders Association or NCA Cheerleading Camp.  While attending camp, they learned cheers, spirit dance, stunts and band chants.  The material that they learned will help them with state competition that is held in November.

Seven of our cheerleaders were nominated for All American Cheerleader while at camp.  You have to be nominated by an NCA Staff Member and must demonstrate excellence in jumps, cheer motions, tumbling and leadership.  If a cheerleader is nominated they are eligible to try out for All American Cheerleader.  Each nominee had to perform the camp cheer, jumps, and perform a spirit/tumbling entrance in front of the whole camp.  The NCA Staff scores each girl.  Hannah Flynn and Emma Schmidt made All American Cheerleader. This is a huge award for any cheerleader to receive.

The following cheerleaders were nominated for All American Cheerleader:

Senior Captain

Avin Inlow

Sophomores:

Emma Schmidt

Kamryn Hudsonpillar

Hannah Flynn

Makinsey Schlautman

Freshmen:

Grace Pope

Kali Hagans

The TMP-M Cheer Squad also brought home 3 trophies.  They won Top Team Band Dance, Top Team Cheer and were voted Top Team from the rest of the squads at camp.  The last day at camp they competed in 2 categories, Cheer and Band Dance. They performed both in front of the camp and were awarded Top Team under each division.
