Monarch Students Qualify for Honor Band and Choir

From Band and Choir Director Kathy Amrein:
In November, fifteen students auditioned for the KMEA District and State Honor Choir. Twelve of the fifteen were selected for the District Honor Choir, and in December it was announced that we had two vocal students selected for the All-State Honor Choir.

Matthew Moeder and Elly Lang will both be returning to the All-State Choir in Wichita on February 23-25. This choir consists of around 300 students from all sizes of schools, 1A thru 6A.  The Northwest KMEA District, of which TMP-Marian is a part, is only allowed to have 24 in this choir.  Lang is now eligible to audition for the National Choir

Taryn Rupp and Katy Walters were chosen for the All-State Band.  Both girls auditioned in Salina with all band students throughout Kansas.  Band students are divided between two bands, 1-2-3-4A and a 5-6A.  Rupp will play 2nd chair oboe while Walters will play 4th chair oboe in the 1-2-3-4A band.  Walters is now eligible for the National Band.  This will be Rupp’s second year to play in this band.
